"The World Anew"
The housecat gazes out the window
eyes transfixed on the light--
the promise of a peaceful dawn
for all of Mother Earth's inhabitants
a clean slate spring brings, a fresh chance
for the world to be anew.

Haiku

Dahlia garden
a cabbage fly dashes through
maze of yellow blooms

Windy spring morning,
dangling from the Oak tree's branch:
mail carrier's cap

peony garden
lush pink petals in full bloom
after the rainstorm

Monarch butterfly
resting on a coneflower
takes off to the sky!

April showers bathe
the soil, transforming the earth
into a garden

April thunderstorm~
spaniel howls while our kitten
hides under the bed

early morning rain~
the scent of lavender blooms
flowing through the air

Beside the window,
cat gazes at the wonders
this spring morning brings.

mourning dove's soft calls
echo across the still lake
this chilly morning

Senryu

This spring afternoon~
mockingbird's soft melody
soothes my troubled head

Wandering...

Wandering,
in the desert at dusk,
Watching,
the purple sunset.
Listening
to the whispers
Beckoning
me to stay.
Experiencing
the peace of the land;
Loving
that we are together...
Feeling
connected to all.

The Living Sea

Constant movement
kinetic strength
its force
does not discriminate--
it just is?
providing
a bounty
of nourishment
asking
for nothing
in return?
the least
we can do
is
keep it clean.

Planting Peace
(An Affirmation for Well-Being)

Every day
when we rise
we can make
the decision
to plant
the seeds of peace...
through our thoughts
speech and actions
we have the power
to maintain
our own well-being
and while the spirit crushers
and war mongers
attempt to infect us
with their malignancy
our serenity
will shield us
from their strife...
for the power of peace
is right inside
our heads and hearts
gently guiding us
towards harmony
and freedom.
